Chicago Sisters Help Build Homes for Families in Need

What an amazing experience our Chicago Sisterhood of Carpenters team had at the DuPage Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build! Our Sisters were so grateful for the  experience and chance to be a part of something so life-changing for these families.

Four women wearing hard hats and “every woman can build” shirts pose on wooden beams at a construction site, smiling and flexing their arms. A man in a green shirt and hard hat stands in front, also smiling.

What is Women Build? Habitat for Humanity Women Build program recruits, educates, and encourages women to build and advocate for decent and affordable houses in their communities.

Why Women Build?  Womenmake up 50 percent of Habitat for Humanity International’s volunteer force; yet often because of lack of training, they account for less than 15 percent of workers on the construction site.

The Women Build program was established to encourage the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat homes.
