The Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters represents over 30,000 working men and women from 19 local unions across Illinois and Eastern Iowa that represent our members. The Chicago Regional Council provides the construction and maintenance industries with productive, competitive and certified professionals, encompassing a wide variety of crafts and skills.

One Trade, Many Crafts

The term “carpenter” is a blanket term for the numerous skills performed by the members of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters. Throughout its history the union has developed many specialty crafts. The Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters offers every member continuing and developmental training in all of these specialties. Many members are proficient in numerous crafts.

As carpenters our scope of work also includes the following: stair building; furniture installation; trim, door and hardware installation; garage/overhead doors; panel installation; shelving, signage and wall hangings; and the installation of window treatments.
