Kansas City area Union Carpenters are asking residents to let US Bank executives know that it’s wrong to hurt local workers and break area labor standards.
At a busy intersection in Lee’s Summit, MO, a suburb or Kansas City, Union Carpenters have erected an inflatable fat cat and a sign saying, “Labor Dispute Shame on US Bank,” with a QR code for passersby to scan. The action is going on in walking distance from a US Bank currently being remodeled by out-of-town contractors paying on-site carpenters below the area standard rate and not providing health and retirement benefits.

A handbill associated with the banner says, “US Bank brought in D & F Constructors, an out-of-town contractor, for their bank remodel in Lee’s Summit. D & F then hired Welch Construction for the carpentry work. Welch Construction does not meet area labor standards for all its carpenter-craft workers, including fully paying for family health benefits and pension retirement benefits.” It continues, “Workers deserve fair pay and benefits for their hard work. US Bank needs to make sure ALL workers on their projects are treated fairly.”
You too can join KC residents and let US Bank company officials know how you feel about protecting the local force and area wage standards. Click this link to read the handbill and send a pre-written email directly to bank executives.
