Today the historic Illinois Climate and Equitable Jobs Act was signed into law! This legislation is huge for Union jobs! It includes: – Strongest labor standards in the country for wind and solar projects. – Project labor agreements required for all utility-scale wind and solar projects. – Prevailing wage required for all non-residential clean energy projects. – Expanded apprenticeship and training programs to increase representation of Black and Latino communities in the energy workforce. “The Carpenters Union appreciated the opportunity to have an active role in this process and represent the interests of working families across Illinois,” said EST Gary Perinar. “There is so much to be proud of in this new law that establishes Illinois as a national leader in clean energy, and we’re especially thankful that it saves thousands of union jobs by allowing Exelon to keep its nuclear facilities in operation.
