EST Perinar Accepts UBC Second General Vice Presidency, McLaughlin Named New MACRC EST

For the past seven years, our Regional Council has thrived under the guidance and leadership of Gary Perinar. The skills and traits he possesses led to record membership levels, wage increases, and new contractor signings for the MACRC during his tenure.

Perinar’s skillset and abilities also caught the attention of United Brotherhood of Carpenters President Douglas McCarron and the UBC leadership team, and effective March 1, our former Executive Secretary-Treasurer has been promoted to the position of UBC Second General Vice President.

We will certainly miss having former EST Perinar as a daily presence steering our ship, but wish him well in his new endeavor helping lead the UBC’s 500,000 members. And though our new MACRC leadership has massive shoes to fill, our new EST & his team are more than up to the task.

Replacing Perinar as EST is Kevin McLaughlin, a 39-year member of Carpenters Local 10. Kevin has served in many roles throughout his esteemed career including Local President, Assistant to the EST, and International Trade Show Rep for the UBC. He is a respected, capable leader and is a great fit for this new role. EST McLaughlin learned the importance of accountability, truth and trust under former EST Perinar and plans on continuing that culture at the MACRC.

Joel Pogose is President of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council. Joel is a 26-year member of the union and serves as President of Carpenters Local 250. At 32, he became a full-time Organizer for the then-Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters and eventually worked his way up to become the Director of Organizing. In 2022, he was elected Vice President of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council. He is active in several non-profit organizations, including Special Olympics Illinois.
