Contractor Teams Up With Local For Recruitment

Last month, GK Meyer Construction and Local 1839 teamed up to host a recruiting day at Four Rivers Career Center in Washington, MO.

Gary Meyer provided a demonstration in log cutting for log cabin building. GK Meyer Construction is a signatory partner that employs union carpenters who perform log cabin building and historic renovations.

A group of people in work clothes sit on and around a red picnic table outdoors, listening to a person speaking near a trailer marked “GK Meyer Construction & Repair LLC.” Trees and parked trucks are in the background.

Gary was gracious to come out and show the students another angle of just what it is we all can do as carpenters. It was a great day for both partners seeing approximately 60 to 70 possible applicants.

Local 1839 Carpenters provided hard hat stickers and pencils for all the students and Mid-America Carpenters provided informational post cards for every attendee. It was a pleasure to spend a day with these students, very attentive and eager to get out and make a career!
