Chicago Carpenters Training Center Welcomes All-Female Class

The Chicago Carpenters Training Center recently welcomed its first-ever all-female pre-apprenticeship class.

The nine-week program gave the women training in setting concrete forms, residential wood framing and erecting scaffolding.

Chicago Women in Trades worked with the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council to organize the class, there will hopefully be more classes like this available in the future. Members of the program graduated on May 13.

WTTW wrote about the class. Through the pre-apprenticeship program, we hope to bring more women into the Carpenters Union.
