Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP)

The Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP) is being launched to encourage and reward outstanding Member involvement and participation in Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council activities and initiatives, increase membership participation, promote brotherhood, unity and pride among our Members.

Three people stand on a snowy sidewalk holding a large yellow banner that reads “Labor Dispute. Shame on US Bank” with a QR code. A large inflatable rat holding money is beside them. A building and bare trees are in the background.

Members can earn points through volunteering at council or local sponsored events. When you sign up to volunteer, make sure to check in, record your hours and feel good about helping out the Brotherhood. Every hour volunteered equals one point (equivalent to $1) towards the purchase of MACRC apparel and merchandise. Members can log up to four hours maximum for each event they’ve volunteered at.

All members in good standing, journey-level, apprentices and retirees can all join the VIP to start earning points. Regional Council staff and Apprenticeship staff are not allowed to join the program.

Some examples of VIP events include but are not limited to:

  • Pickets
  • Bannering & Hand-Billing
  • Phone Banking
  • Canvassing
  • Rallies
  • Parades: St. Patrick’s Day, Labor Day, Bud Biliken Day, Mexican Independence Day, etc.
  • Rebuilding Together
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Career fairs & Open house events

Local meetings, holiday parties and local picnics don’t count toward VIP points. There are many ways to get involved and if you don’t know of any upcoming events, talk to the members of locals or your union reps to see if there are volunteer events coming up.

People march in a parade holding a "Mid-America Carpenters" banner that reads "Wish you a Happy Labor Day!" Others watch from the sidewalk. The sky is partly cloudy, and many participants wear blue shirts.

The Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council is Strong Along. Unstoppable Together. And the Union is really strong when our members are getting out into the community to help out with volunteer events. Our members make their voices heard in many ways, the Volunteer Incentive Program is just one more way we’re helping members stay involved.
