Programs

Nationwide, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters offers its members the finest training in the industry, with 1,500 full-time instructors, 250 training centers across North America and a state-of-the-art international training center that serves as the home for instructors to gain training via existing and new educational programs. This hands-on training is designed to keep our members at the top of their fields. Our members’ proven skills and the training they continue to receive are two big reasons that contractors confidently hire union carpenters. Training keeps our members in demand.

UBC Leadership Program

INSTALL™ Program

INSTALL– Installation Standards Training Alliance is associated with the floor covering arm of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) and its training program. For years, INSTALL has been providing the highest quality, most comprehensive training and certification available for installers of floor covering materials in residential and commercial markets. INSTALL flooring mechanics are trained in an exhaustive five-year program that leaves no relevant issue unaddressed. The first year consists of pre-apprenticeship training where students work as helpers in order to get a feel for the trade. The remaining four years of the program consist of 11 weeks of school instruction (one week per quarter) and on-the-job training. Graduates of this training have consistently been called upon to provide dependable, qualified labor to install products in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications. These products include carpet, linoleum, hardwood, laminate, vinyl and other resilients, as well as sports surfaces and artificial turf.
