On Feb. 8, the St. Louis County Council voted 6-1 to reinstate a rule requiring bidders for most county projects to participate in federally approved apprenticeship programs.
The program means more work for Union Carpenters in St. Louis and a win for the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council.
St. Louis County Councilwoman Shalonda Webb sponsored the ordinance and said apprenticeship programs recruit workers to ensure top quality work on taxpayer-funded projects. Read more about the announcement here.
