When a retired union carpenter and his wife lost their son—Chicago Fire Department Captain David Meyer, who gave his life in the line of duty—four members of the Carpenters Union stepped up to honor his legacy and support his parents. They donated their time and skills to rebuild the front stairs of the couple’s home, making it safer and more accessible. This is what giving back means.

Thank you to EST McLaughlin for donating the materials and thank to Local 58 Reps Bill Murphy and Rob Piane, Retiree Ian Main, and member Steve Fitzgerald for demonstrating that the true strength of our union is in how we care for our communities. Thanks also to Alderman Anthony Napolitano for stopping bye to show his gratitude.
