Floor Covering Awareness and Preventive Maintenence

This course begins by addressing the question of why floors fail.  The three main reasons are discussed along with an explanation of steps to avoid failure, including the importance of proper substrate preparation.  Attendees will learn some of the history of both resilient flooring and carpet.  Information will be presented about carpet construction from yarn to manufacturing and will include installation standards.  Once the flooring is installed, methods and timeliness of cleaning the carpet to insure that it maintains that "new" look are reviewed.  INSTALL, the nationally developed training program for installers to achieve the dependability, precision, and professionalism the craft demands, will also be presented.
